Visit
Us
Kent.
The Garden of England, has been the centre of British fruit growing
for centuries. Fruit and vines have been grown since the Roman occupation.
Henry VIII's fruiterer, Richard Harris, established the first large
scale orchards at Teynham, just a few miles from Brogdale and scoured
the known world for the best varieties. For the next 300 years fruit
growing developed in Kent to supply the luxury market, with most
being sent to London.
